1/2024 The Role of Teachers in Developing Digital Competencies
Abstract
The focus of this issue is thematically centered on the role of teachers in developing digital competencies across all levels of education (from pre-primary to tertiary). In recent years, the development of digital literacy among pupils and students has become a prominent theme in educational practice and across various educational institutions and disciplines. This trend is driven by the incorporation of a new key competence, digital competence, into curricular documents.
For teachers of any subject, discipline, or level of education, this presents both an opportunity and a necessity to adapt their teaching practices, prepare differently for lessons, stay updated on technological trends, and potentially rethink the content of education itself. All these challenges highlight the need for teacher support at various levels, ranging from individual schools to national initiatives.
